The Embassy of the United Sates in Afghanistan will soon announce the opening of the 2009-10 Fulbright Program, the official scholarship program of the U.S. government.  The Fulbright Program, the flagship international educational program sponsored by the United States Government, is designed to "increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries..."  With this goal, the Fulbright Program has provided approximately 275,000 participants from around the world — chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential — with the opportunity to observe each others' political, economic, educational and cultural institutions, to exchange ideas and to embark on joint ventures of importance to the general welfare of the world's inhabitants.
Three different fellowships will be offered in Afghanistan. Each program has its own requirements and timeline, so please review the descriptions carefully. You are encouraged to review the programs now in order to prepare your application.

• Fulbright Graduate Program
• The Hubert H. Humphrey Program
• Foreign Language Teaching Assistant

At this time we are not offering the non-degree study grants for undergraduate studies and graduate studies ("Research Grants") nor does the Fulbright Program pay for Medical or Dental studies.  The Fulbright Undergraduate Program is no longer offered.
